The Triumph Italia 2000 is a Michelotti-styled, Vignale-built coupé on TR3 mechanicals, and only about 330 were made. This is car number 311, one of just 29 built on the final TR3B platform. Those cars have uprated brakes with TR4 callipers. This one also has factory overdrive and a kilometre-calibrated speedometer.
The chassis left the Triumph factory on 20 February 1963, bound for Vignale in Turin. It was later exported to the United States, where period invoices trace its maintenance through the 1960s and 1970s. It was subsequently acquired by Triumph Italia authority Adrian Sinnott, who had it restored to original specification and original colour scheme. The floors and sills were replaced. The brakes, suspension and overdrive were overhauled. The exhaust, windscreen and tyres were renewed. The interior was retrimmed in period-correct vinyl, and the engine, already overhauled by a previous owner, was left largely alone.
The car has covered 34,411 miles and has seen little use since the restoration. It has a recent MOT with no advisories. The history file includes a BMIHT certificate, a TR Register dating certificate, a certificate of originality signed by Dr Salvatore Ruffino, import papers, invoices and the current V5C. The page says chassis and engine numbers match. The car is left-hand drive.
