Chassis 1678 is a 1911 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, a brass-radiator car from the early years of the model. It left the factory with a Barker landaulette body and was delivered to a Mrs Helen Fletcher of Arundel, Sussex. It now carries an open-drive limousine body by J. Frank Cutter of Massachusetts, which is described as original to the car. The body was fitted by James Black of Lisburn, a recognised early Ghost specialist.
The page describes a comprehensive restoration of the mechanicals by Black, including a fully rebuilt engine. It starts on the handle, and often on the advance/retard control after a few turns once fuel pressure is up. The rear compartment has a cloth and brocade interior, while the driver's area is trimmed in buttoned black leather. Brass runs throughout, including eight lamps at the front, rear and sides.
The car is UK registered as BP1513. Viewing is by appointment in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. No mileage is stated.
