Rolls-Royce 20HP Kellner Brougham

This 1924 Rolls-Royce 20HP wears a town-carriage Brougham body by Kellner of Paris, number 16649, with an open-fronted driver's compartment in the horse-drawn tradition. Chassis GRK3 was put on test in June 1924 with engine G1025, registered in Worcestershire and then sent to Kellner through the Export Department. Its first owner was a Parisian, and the car is said to have spent years in Hollywood with an actress before returning to the UK.

The cabin is trimmed in West of England cloth at the rear, with a fold-out occasional table in the bulkhead, and buttoned black leather up front. Opera lights on the sides come on with the ignition. It has the early 20's three-speed gearbox, with a factory extension to the gear lever that the dealer says is unusual. The car has appeared in films including Gosford Park and Austenland.

The last owner bought it in 1989 and kept it in a collection of around 50 cars, so it has seen little use. It comes to market from his estate. Recorded mileage is 49,307. The marque specialists Lee Kenworthy & Company are currently servicing it and adjusting the rear brakes. The car was reported to run well beforehand, with good oil pressure.
