Rolls-Royce 20hp Hooper Style Tourer

This 1926 Rolls-Royce 20hp carries an open touring body in the style of Hooper, though it wasn't born that way. It was first bodied as a three-quarter doctor's coupé by Maythorns of Biggleswade for a London physician, then re-bodied in the 1960s by Edmund Metal Works of Plymouth. Edmunds worked from Hooper tourer chassis GHJ8 as a template, and the result is a close copy.

The car is finished in Hooper Prussian blue over black, with pale grey leather inside. It has an Auster-style screen for rear passengers, a newish full-length hood, stowed side screens and a rear motoring trunk. A hallmarked sterling silver clock set into the rear door has its own wartime story. The engine bay keeps its original undertrays, a bakelite coil holder and a nickel Klaxon.

The history file is large. It records a full engine rebuild with six new pistons and a reground crankshaft, and a service in November 2022 costing over £7,000. Specialists West Hoathly Garage, Priory Vintage Car Co and CJ Ford Engineering have all maintained it. An original handbook and buff log book are included. No mileage is stated.
