About this car
One of just 25 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 race cars built by AMG's motorsport division to FIA GT3 specification, this 2011 example is remarkable for having never turned a wheel in competition. Instead, it has remained under continuous private ownership and spent recent years as a static display piece at Mercedes-Benz World in Brooklands — effectively preserving it in as-new condition.
The SLS GT3 strips the already formidable road car back to its essentials: a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 producing an electronically-limited 500 bhp, housed in a CFRP safety cell and weighing around 1,300 kg. The sequential six-speed racing gearbox, multi-disc locking differential, adjustable suspension, steel racing brakes with ABS, and 18-inch centre-lock wheels are all factory-spec. The interior is pure competition: carbon fibre seat shell with HANS compatibility, six-point harness, and fire extinguisher system. Aerodynamic additions include a carbon front splitter, rear spoiler, and quick-release bonnet.
Finished in white with a comprehensive factory specification list, this GT3 represents one of the most successful customer racing platforms of its era — the SLS GT3 won the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Bathurst 12 Hour, and multiple national GT championships. Finding an unraced, privately held example from a total production run of 25 is an exceptionally rare opportunity for collectors of significant competition machinery.
