Privacy
Vertar collects as little as it can. This page says what that is, why, and how to have it removed. Last updated 8 November 2026.
Who we are
Vertar (vertar.com) lists cars for sale at the UK’s specialist dealers, and makes The Vertar Show, a daily podcast and video. For anything on this page, write to [email protected].
Browsing the site
- No accounts and no advertising trackers. You don’t sign up to use Vertar.
- Visits are counted with Umami, which sets no cookies and doesn’t identify you: we see which pages are read and roughly where from (country, kind of device), not who you are.
- When you follow a link to a dealer, we count the click against a one-way hash, so we can tell a dealer how many people we sent them without knowing who they were.
- Favourites and recently viewed cars are kept in your own browser (local storage). They never reach us, and clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
If you contact a dealer through Vertar
The enquiry form sends your name, email, phone number (if you give one) and message to that dealer, and we keep a copy so we can resend it if delivery fails and spot abuse. The dealer then handles your details under its own privacy policy.
Price alerts
If you ask for alerts, we keep your email address and the search you saved, and send at most one email a day when new cars match. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
The Vertar Show
- If you email [email protected], we keep your message and email address. Your message may be read or quoted on the show, by your first name only (and your town, if you signed off with it); never your surname or email address. If yours is used, we may reply once, from the same address, with a link to the episode.
- Comments you leave on the show’s YouTube videos may be read out the same way, by the name you comment under.
- The show posts to its own accounts on YouTube, X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok and LinkedIn. The apps that do this only publish to Vertar’s own accounts and read the comments on them; they don’t collect anything about the people who follow, like or comment, beyond what’s described here.
- Tell us if you’d rather your message wasn’t used, before or after it airs, and we won’t use it again.
Who else handles it
Our servers are in the EU (Hetzner, Germany), and photos and email go through Amazon Web Services in the UK and Ireland. A small number of other service providers help us process dealers’ listings and produce the show, under contracts that let them use the data only to do that work for us. We never sell personal data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: as long as we need them to deal with delivery problems and abuse, or until you ask us to delete yours.
- Alert subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Messages to the show: as long as the show runs, unless you ask us to delete yours.
Deleting your data
Email [email protected] from the address you used, saying what you’d like removed (an enquiry, an alert, a message to the show, or everything). We’ll delete it within 30 days and confirm when it’s done. If you connected or removed one of Vertar’s apps on a social network, there is nothing about you to delete: they hold no data about anyone but Vertar’s own accounts.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it’s used: write to the address above. If you’re unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
