The W121 190 SL was sold alongside the 300 SL as a cheaper, more conventionally engineered sibling, with a 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine in place of the six. It has since become a collectable car in its own right. This right-hand-drive 1960 example is in its original colour scheme of black with red leather, a black fabric hood and black carpets.
It has covered 60,727 miles and has had five owners since the first buyer took it new in 1960. The latest keeper bought it in 2011, and the owner before that had it from 1987. The cabin has a large white Bakelite steering wheel with a matching gearknob on the four-speed manual, and a period Becker Mexico radio.
The car was fully restored by Classic Restorations, Scotland, which stripped, rebuilt, retrimmed and repainted it, and the engine was rebuilt as part of that work. A box file holds receipts for later maintenance and many photographs of the restoration. The dealer lists a 24-month warranty.
