The Elan Sprint was the last and quickest of the original Lotus Elans, and this 1971 drop head coupe is finished in Lotus yellow with a white interior. A Lotus certificate of provenance confirms it as a genuine Sprint DHC in that colour. It has had three previous owners and shows 54,360 miles.
The history is unusually well documented. A replacement Spyder chassis was fitted in 1987, along with new front and rear wishbones and shock absorbers, at about 54,000 miles. The car then spent many years in storage.
In 2014 it was repainted and given extensive mechanical work costing over £21,000. The engine and gearbox were removed, the engine was stripped and inspected, and the gearbox was rebuilt. It also received a new clutch, solid racing driveshafts, new discs and callipers, a stainless steel exhaust, a new dashboard, carpets and hood, and an alloy fuel tank. That work was done at 54,200 miles, so very little use has followed it.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Lotus's quoted 126 bhp (gross) for the 1558cc big-valve Twin Cam. Weight, 0-60 and top speed are left null because the widely quoted figures come from magazine road tests, not Lotus.).
