Listed today at UK Sports Cars, Wingham. Last checked today.
An early Lotus Elan S1 from 1964, fitted with a body shell made by Bourne Plastics Ltd, a detail that appeals to those who follow the first cars closely. The Elan's light fibreglass body and backbone chassis made it one of the best-handling small sports cars of its day.
This one has been usefully updated with a fast road engine, upgraded brakes and a safety roll bar, while keeping the correct instruments and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The paintwork and interior are in good order.
The dealer sold the car about five years ago and has serviced it for the owner, who lives in the Far East. It comes with a Letter of Authenticity, a Certificate of Provenance, a full service and a fresh MOT.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Lotus period quoted figure: 105 bhp (gross) from the 1558cc Lotus-Ford twin-cam. Weight, top speed and 0-60 left blank because the figures around for these come from period road tests, not Lotus.).
£39,995 since it was listed on 6 November 2026. No changes yet.
