The Elan was Lotus's 1962 follow-up to the Elite, and the Series 3 (Type 36) Coupe is one of the more usable versions. It pairs a steel backbone chassis and lightweight fibreglass body with a twin-cam 1558cc engine, independent suspension and disc brakes all round. Colin Chapman's template here shaped Lotus road cars for decades.
This 1967 car is finished in French Blue with a black interior and has a four-speed manual gearbox. It is described as matching numbers. A total restoration was completed in 2011, covering the chassis, engine and transmission as well as the cosmetics, and invoices and photographs document the work.
The current owner bought it after the restoration. Further invoices from Lotus specialists total £13,500. The odometer reads 3,375 miles, and the car has been used sparingly over the past eight years.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Lotus period spec for the standard 1558cc Lotus-Ford Twin Cam (105 bhp gross, not SE tune). No confirmed factory figures for weight, top speed or 0-60, so those are null. Most figures in circulation come from period road tests.).
