Chassis 002 is the lead TWR-run XJ220C at the 1993 Le Mans 24 Hours, car number 50, driven by John Nielsen, David Brabham and David Coulthard. It took the GT class win on the road, though the result was lost when the organisers ruled the catalytic converter appeal out of time. Only four of the ultimate-specification XJ220s were built, and three raced at Le Mans.
The C-LM spec cuts around 400kg from the road car, with detachable carbon composite bodywork, a stripped interior and a Group C-derived 3.5-litre V6 making 850bhp. Cooling, suspension and brakes were all upgraded, with many aluminium parts replaced by carbon and carbon-Kevlar.
After Le Mans the car went to the TWR Museum, then to the Sultan of Brunei, and was loaned to Jaguar for a travelling Heritage display from 2000. It appeared at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed with Brabham. Furlonger has since carried out a mechanical appraisal and road registered it, making it the only road-legal XJ220C-LM. A list of the work is available on request.
