Listed today at Nicholas Mee, Hatfield. Last checked today.
The XJ220 was Britain's first true hypercar, with a top speed above 215 mph and a kerb weight of around 1,500 kg. Only 275 were built, and fewer than 70 of them were right-hand drive. This one is finished in Daytona Black over Smoke Grey Connolly hides. The dealer reports it as one of only 18 cars in that colour.
Its history is unusual. It was one of ten XJ220s supplied new to the Sultan of Brunei in 1992. It came back to the UK in 1999 with 2,360 miles, and was later stored unregistered in Hong Kong before returning again. It now shows 6,930 miles and has had four owners.
Specialists Don Law completed a major overhaul in 2022, costing about £110,000. The work covered fuel tank foams, pumps and hoses, head gaskets and timing belts, brakes, suspension, a new clutch, transmission seals, cooling, electrics and air conditioning. The bound history file includes the itemised invoices, a Jaguar build-date statement, a JDHT certificate, the owner's handbook and the tool kit. The listing shows the price as POA and the car as reserved.
