The SS100 is the car that first put the Jaguar name on a genuine sports car, and this 1935 example comes with a competition past. Chassis 18010 was bought new by a Mr Luxton and exported to Australia, where it raced extensively through the 1940s until about 1950. It later joined a prominent Portuguese collection and has been with its current Swiss owner since 1998.
The restoration was carried out by John Taylor and finished in 2002. The engine is a correct 2.5-litre unit, fully rebuilt, sleeved and bored out to 2.9 litres for a little extra performance. The page notes that engines in raced cars were often swapped each season, so this is in keeping with the car's history.
It is painted a very dark blue, a little darker than Rolls-Royce Midnight Blue, with a beige hide interior and beige carpets. The car has done fewer than 2,000 miles since the restoration, and it comes with a full set of weather equipment that has never been used. It is driven monthly and is registered in Portugal, where it can be viewed. The page shows the price marked as accepted.
