Jaguar SS100 3.5 Litre Rebody

This is not an original SS100 but a reconstruction: a 1946 Jaguar 2.5 Litre saloon that has been rebodied as a 3.5 Litre SS100 roadster. The new aluminium body was hand-formed on an English wheel over an ash frame and replaces the original four-door saloon body. A period-correct 3.5-litre engine has been fully rebuilt and fitted, and the car has had a complete nut-and-bolt mechanical restoration.

The work was commissioned by an owner who died before he could enjoy the finished car. It has covered only 9 miles since completion. It is finished in black with a new red leather interior. The dealer describes it as a 100-point reconstruction using mostly original components, and a probate inspection report listing it as "as new" comes with it.

The car has been serviced and is said to be running well, though it needs about 500 miles of careful running in. The roof was not finished, so a correct frame and canvas hood is being made. The car is not yet UK registered, and an application for a GVR-prefixed registration has been made.
