This is chassis 18003, the third SS100 ever built and one of the earliest examples of the pre-war Jaguar sports car. Its first owner was Paul Marx of Buxton, Derbyshire, who ordered it new in 1936. The Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms this, and a later letter from Marx to Sir William Lyons praises the car's performance.
Marx took the car to the USA in 1937 and raced it extensively, and the history file holds numerous references to that racing. In 1961 it was upgraded to 3.5-litre specification with a correct SS 3.5-litre engine. The page points out that 3.5-litre cars were not offered until the 1938–40 model years, so this is a later change to the car.
It has had a full restoration by Beaufort Restoration Services and is described as being in concours condition. It is finished in its original black over maroon leather. The original headlamps were changed early in its life to Lucas P100 units, which have been kept. The car is Austrian-registered and was formerly UK-registered as BOX878. European taxes are paid and it is viewable near Worthsee/Villach in Austria. No mileage is given.
