This right-hand-drive, matching-numbers Series II E-Type 4.2 roadster was built on 30 October 1968 and supplied through Henlys of London. It was ordered in the special-order colour Porsche Tangerine, with black leather and a manual gearbox. It is reportedly one of only three E-Types known to survive in that shade, which Jaguar is said to have offered only on a minimum order of matching cars.
The history is well documented. The car had 600 miles recorded in 1970 and was repainted red at some point before 1978. By 2016 it was externally tired but original inside. A restoration at the selling dealer's Malton Coachworks followed. The car was stripped to a shell and repainted in its correct original colour. The engine was checked and refitted, and the gearbox and differential were rebuilt. Work also covered the brakes, suspension, exhaust, clutch, chrome wire wheels, hood and trim.
Since then it has covered only modest mileage in fine-weather use, with new Pirelli tyres, a 123 distributor and new steering rack and engine mounts added. The page gives no current odometer reading, but it records 78,000 warranted miles in 2016. It is being sold by its Scottish owner to make room in his collection.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Jaguar factory engine figures for the 4.2 XK: 265 bhp gross (SAE), UK triple-SU spec; US Stromberg cars were rated lower. Weight, top speed and 0-60 left null: they depend on body style (FHC, roadster or 2+2) and contemporary figures came from magazine road tests, not the factory.).
