About this car

This early 3.8 E-Type fixed-head coupe was built in May 1964 and supplied new through Argyle Motors in Birkenhead. It is a UK matching-numbers car, keeping its original engine, four-speed Moss gearbox and its original Merseyside registration, ACM 288B. Its first owner was Veco Products, the company behind Peco exhausts, and the car appeared in Hot Car magazine in 1968 fitted with twin-pipe Peco silencers.

The body is from a 1990s restoration, and the dealer reports that it has been carefully maintained since. A re-commissioning in 2016 included rebuilding the rear axle cage, replacing the differential and pinion seals, balancing the triple SU carburettors and fitting new engine mountings, carpets and sill trim. Earlier invoices cover suspension, carburettor and cooling work in 2011 and further engine ancillaries in 2014.

More recent owners have replaced the clutch, master cylinder, air box, belt and dynator, and added a new headlining and door trim. Over £8,000 has been spent since 2021. A comprehensive history file accompanies the car. Mileage is not stated.
