About this car
This is an early Series 1 E-Type fixed head coupe with the 3.8-litre straight-six and the four-speed 'Moss' manual gearbox, the combination many collectors regard as the purest expression of Malcolm Sayer's design. It was built in April 1962 and sent new to the USA, returning to the UK in 2018.
Its colour scheme of Opalescent Silver Blue over dark blue leather is reported to be the original combination. The restoration was carried out by Cult Classics of London and ran until 2025. The Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms matching-number components, including the engine block, cylinder head and gearbox.
The selling dealer's Jaguar specialists have since commissioned the car, including a full gearbox rebuild and set-up of the brakes, engine and suspension. The listing shows 100 miles, which reflects the recent restoration. Little is known of its history in the USA.
