Listed today at DD Classics, Kew. Last checked today.
This 1963 E-Type is a "Semi Lightweight", a car built with a number of genuine factory lightweight parts rather than a full Lightweight. It is described as the first Semi Lightweight built by Michael Wilkinson Snr of M&C Wilkinson, and it follows Jaguar's 1963 push to challenge Ferrari in GT racing.
The car keeps a steel tub, with aluminium for the bonnet, roof, doors, rear wings and boot lid. It is finished in Balmoral Green with a "Z2" race number. The stripped interior has green trim, lightweight E-Type seats, pedals and chronometric gauges. The 3.8-litre six is quoted at 300 bhp and drives through a Denis Welch straight-cut gearbox.
It was restored in 2009/10 and has been campaigned at the Manx Classic. It was previously part of a large private collection. It is right-hand drive and UK road registered, so it can be used on the road as well as on track. Price is on application, and no mileage is given.
