Listed today at Classicmobilia, Milton Keynes. Last checked today.
This is a C-Type recreation rather than an original Jaguar competition car, built around a chassis and a 3.4-litre XK engine block bought at the Beaulieu Autojumble in 1999. It carries the identity XKC044, which appears in its German registration papers and its 2005 FIA documents.
The aluminium body was made by Shape Craft Engineering of Northampton on an original C-Type jig. Classic Garage of Diessen in Bavaria carried out the rebuild between 2000 and 2005. The car was then road registered in Germany with historic papers and received an FIA pass in 2005/2006. It is a right-hand-drive two-seater with a 3.4-litre straight-six, a four-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. The odometer reads 20,000 miles.
The page lists events including the Donau Classic 2006, Alpen Classic 2007, Edelweiss Classic 2009 and Nuvolari 2010, and says no accidents or technical problems have been reported. The page also notes that the original XKC 044 went to Sweden and later to the USA, and that the engine in this car was identified in Oslo as E 1049, which first came with XKC 050. Buyers should read that history carefully. The price is on application.
