This is a toolroom-quality aluminium recreation of the Jaguar C-Type, the Le Mans winner of 1951 and 1953. It was built by Andy Thomas, formerly of Lynx and later of Classic Chassis Services. Thomas used the original C-Type PUR 120 as his direct reference. The car is registered as a 1950s Jaguar on an original period identity.
Power comes from an XK120 engine modified to C-Type specification, with sand-cast SU carburettors, a long-fan pulley dynamo and the correct sump and offset dipstick. After some competition use, including a race at Magny-Cours, it was inspected in 2016 by Auto Klassiker in Switzerland and given a full engine rebuild. Afterwards it was dyno-tested at 265bhp. The suspension was refreshed, the radiator replaced and the rear brakes and limited-slip differential attended to.
Hi-Tech Motorsport has since serviced the car, rebuilding all four brake assemblies, and the exhaust has been refinished. The history file holds the inspection report, invoices, Dynojet graph and a Jaguar World Monthly feature on the build. Fresh FIA HTP papers are in progress. They would make the car eligible to apply for events including the Spa Six Hours and the Le Mans Classic.
