Ford Capri RS2600 Group 2

This is a genuine period competition Capri, not a replica: a 1972 RS2600 built to Group 2 specification and run by Ford Italia. It was entered for the 1973 Imola Autosprint 500, driven by "Il Ragno", who went on to campaign and develop it through to 1978 in both the European and Italian Touring Car Championships.

The specification is full works-style touring car. It has a 2,995cc engine with mechanical Kugelfischer injection, quoted at 300hp at 7,000rpm. A five-speed ZF manual gearbox and Colotti limited-slip differential handle the drive. The body is re-welded and reinforced with a six-point roll cage. Koni Racing dampers and Girling brakes are fitted, and the car weighs about 900kg. It runs on 15-inch wheels, 10in wide at the front and 12in at the rear.

The documented race record runs from Imola in 1973 to the Coppa Intereuropa at Monza in 1979. It includes the 1978 4 Hours of Monza and several Verona and Varano events. The car is listed as eligible for Peter Auto Heritage Touring Cup, HSCC Touring Car Cup and Motor Racing Legends Historic Touring Car Challenge events, and under FIA HTP Period H1. It is located in Italy and priced on application.
