This is an early 'Plexiglass' Daytona, one of only around 150 cars built with the perspex headlamp cover before pop-up lights replaced it from 1970. Chassis 12853 was completed in September 1969 and is the fourth right-hand-drive car Ferrari produced, believed to be among the first Daytonas delivered to the UK. It is Ferrari Classiche certified, with matching-numbers chassis, engine and gearbox and a Red Book issued in December 2015.
It was ordered new by Viscount Cowdray in Rosso Bordeaux Dino, and collected from Maranello by Alain de Cadenet. After accident damage in 1990 it was restored in Italy and refinished in Rosso Corsa. The interior is Nero leather with Rosso carpets, a combination the dealer describes as rare. The car spent a decade in Denmark before returning to the UK.
The history file includes early correspondence, a Massini report and invoices. The car took second in class at the Yorkshire Concours at Grantley Hall, and has recently had power steering fitted at a cost of more than £30,000. It is shown with 34,343 miles.
