The Double Six was Daimler's V12 flagship in the Jaguar XJ range, pairing the smooth twelve-cylinder engine with the plusher trim the Daimler name brought. This 1989 HE is finished in Solent Blue over Savile Grey hide with walnut veneer, and has Kent alloy wheels, an electric sunroof, air conditioning, cruise control and an onboard computer.
It was registered in August 1989 and supplied new to Lord Varley, the former Labour cabinet minister, through Paramount of Derby, who serviced it until 2001. The service book carries many main dealer stamps, with the last entry at 58,700 miles in February 2022. The dealer puts the current mileage at about 60,000.
The car is described as garaged from new and free of corrosion, with the original tool kit and fire extinguisher in the boot. Paperwork includes the V5C, MoTs back to 2002, invoices, the book pack with handbook and old tax discs, and a copy of the front cover of Classic Cars magazine that featured the car.
