About this car

One of just 140 DB6 Volantes built, this 1967 car carries the first Aston to wear the Volante name. Chassis DBVC/3636/R was delivered new to Hertfordshire in June 1967 and still wears its original registration, OMF 367E. A copy of the build sheet accompanies it.

It left the factory in Dubonnet Rosso with Natural Connolly leather, with chrome wire wheels, a power aerial and hydraulic power steering. It is now Dark Blue with a retrimmed Tan interior, and shows 47,000 miles. The page lists it as matching numbers and describes it as UK-registered, right-hand drive. It has the Borg Warner three-speed automatic, fitted to 68 of the 140 Volantes.

Aston Engineering has recently carried out more than £24,000 of work. It covered carburettor servicing, a new water pump and thermostat, a transmission overhaul, a rebuilt front suspension with new Koni dampers, and new front outriggers. Corrosion repairs were made to the front floor and chassis leg, and there is a new pedal box floor and a new rear exhaust section. Invoices are available.

Performance

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Aston Martin's period claimed output (282 bhp gross, standard triple-SU 3995cc six). Weight, top speed and acceleration left null because I couldn't confirm the factory figures; the period numbers come mainly from magazine road tests.).
