This DB5 was built at Newport Pagnell in 1965 as a left-hand-drive car for the US market, chassis DB5/2266/L. It was ordered in Platinum White over black Connolly leather with factory air conditioning and whitewall Avon Turbospeed tyres, specified to match George Harrison's car. The factory guarantee was issued in July 1965 and it was first registered for the road in the UK as DGY 336C.
The history is well documented. The first owner, an American businessman living in London, covered some 62,000 miles in just over four years, including long trips in South Africa. The car then went to Spain and on to the USA in 1970. A Utah owner bought it in 1971 and kept it for 35 years, adding about 40,000 miles and using it on Aston Martin Owners Club rallies and shows.
A Los Angeles-based buyer bought it in San Diego in 2015 and had Cars International carry out a total restoration, completed towards the end of 2016. The engine was upgraded to 4.2-litre specification during the work. A book researched by the last owner accompanies the car, which is now based in Los Angeles.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Aston Martin's period claim of 282 bhp (gross) from the 3,995 cc Tadek Marek straight-six with triple SU carbs, built at Newport Pagnell. Weight, top speed and 0-60 left null because the widely quoted figures come mainly from period road tests, not confirmed factory data.).
