This DB5 was first sold in June 1964 through Brooklands of Bond Street to Eaton Garages of Slough. It left the factory in Fiesta Red with Fawn leather and chrome wire wheels, and it now wears a bronze finish, a long way from the Silver Birch of the film car. The original registration was 312 KM. It changed to the current 5736 PP on sale to the next owner, and the buff log book supports the ownership chain.
The engine was rebuilt in 1970 by Always Garage in Hayes, with the odometer then reading 64,489 miles. The dealer says later MOTs and paperwork support the mileage, which now stands at 67,293. A later owner bought it at Bonhams Newport in May 2012, used it briefly, then commissioned a full body and chassis restoration. That included an engine rebuild to 4.2 litres by Bill Goodall. The clutch was changed from a Borg & Beck to a Laycock unit at an owner's request.
The original Fawn leather was kept, with new seat foams and carpet. The car has also been rewired, with the brakes and suspension refurbished and new wheels and tyres fitted. It is a right-hand-drive manual and has covered about 2,000 miles in the last two years. The price is on application.
