About this car

Chassis LML/50/128 is a 1952 DB2 that returned to the Feltham works two months after completion to be upgraded to full Vantage specification, a factory option that is rarely documented this clearly. It left the factory in Almond Green over Beige Connolly leather and carries the Lagonda-derived 2.6-litre twin-cam six designed by W.O. Bentley. Only around 410 DB2s were built.

Its competition record is unusually well recorded. Under T.H. Leggett it took third overall on the 1953 Ayrshire Rally, won classes on Scottish club events in 1954 and won the MGCC Scottish Rally outright. Factory service entries run to the mid-1950s, by which time it had covered about 44,000 miles. It went to the USA in the early 1980s and came back to the UK in 1993, when it was re-registered USK 474.

Since 2021 more than £125,000 has gone into the car through David Morris, including a full engine rebuild with a new crankshaft, a new limited-slip differential and brake and suspension work. It was dyno tested at 172 bhp in 2024 and has run in Peter Auto's Gentleman Trophy and the Le Mans Classic. It has an FIA HTP valid to the end of 2031 and a 2021 FIVA identity card. The history file includes a QE2 shipping slip, old tax discs, magazine features, invoices, the workshop manual and the parts list.
