1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato

Chassis 00031 is the 31st of roughly 200 Giulietta Sprint Zagatos, the aluminium-bodied competition special Alfa Romeo and Zagato built between 1959 and 1963 for privateers chasing lightness and aerodynamic efficiency. This one was supplied new on 18 August 1960 to Italian rally driver A. Corio, who campaigned it from February 1961 to December 1963 at events including the Rallye di Chianciano, Coppa Riviera di Ponente and Rallye della Toscana, taking several class wins and numerous podium finishes.

The period record is backed by an unusually full archive: original racing photographs, contemporary press cuttings, and signed Italian Car Championships paperwork including the Diploma of Merit and Honor awarded to Corio. After a long spell in a private Swiss garage, the car was restored in 2015-2016 at a reported cost of about CHF 185,000, with invoices on file. Facetti rebuilt the engine and gearbox, the electrics and loom were fully restored, and Peter Zahnd of Zurich handled the remaining mechanical work. Swiss specialists repaired the aluminium panels, and the paint follows original Zagato specification using Lechler colour samples.

It received a FIVA Identity Card in April 2018, opening the door to events such as Goodwood and the Tour Auto. The car has lived in Torino, Savona, Helden, Viterbo and Zurich, and arrived in the UK in August 2024. The 1.3-litre car shows 7,315 miles.
