1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato
£395,995
About this car
Chassis 00031 is the 31st of approximately 200 Giulietta Sprint Zagatos hand-built by Zagato between 1959 and 1963, each wearing lightweight aluminium coachwork shaped for aerodynamic efficiency rather than showroom appeal. This particular car was delivered new in August 1960 to Italian rally driver A. Corio, who campaigned it extensively from 1961 to 1963 across events including the Rallye di Chianciano, Coppa Riviera di Ponente, and Rallye della Toscana, collecting class victories and podium finishes along the way. Period racing photographs, contemporary press cuttings, and signed Italian Car Championship documentation — including Corio's Diploma of Merit and Honor — accompany the car, giving it a level of provenance few SZs can match.
After a long period of static storage in Switzerland, the car underwent a comprehensive restoration between 2015 and 2016 costing approximately CHF 185,000. Bodywork was entrusted to a specialist aluminium coachbuilder, paintwork followed original Zagato colour specifications sourced from Lechler, and the engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Facetti in Italy. Electrics, wiring, and remaining mechanicals were restored by noted Giulietta specialist Peter Zahnd in Zurich, with further sorting carried out through 2018. A FIVA Identity Card was issued in April 2018, confirming authenticity and eligibility for premier historic events such as Goodwood and the Tour Auto.
Showing 7,315 miles and offered at £395,995, this is a genuinely rare opportunity to acquire a period-raced, fully documented SZ with a restoration of corresponding quality — a car that sits at the very top of the Giulietta hierarchy.
