TVR Chimaera 4500

A 1997 R-plate TVR Chimaera with the 4.5-litre Rover-based V8, a facelifted car with power steering, a later T5 Borg-Warner gearbox and a factory limited-slip differential. It is finished in Cooper Green with a green and magnolia interior and shows 50,322 miles.

The previous keeper, who owned it from 2012 to 2020, carried out a two-year body-off restoration. The chassis was stripped and fitted with new outriggers by RT Racing, then zinc coated and powder coated. All bushes, bolts, wheel bearings and driveshaft joints were renewed.

The engine was rebuilt by V8 Developments with a new cam and timing gear, and the head proved to be the rare factory big-valve type. Other changes include a high-flow aluminium radiator, ST170 front brakes with 16-inch wheels, Cerbera seats, an aluminium dashboard and push-button start. The car has been serviced yearly, and a large history file with photographs of the restoration comes with it.
