Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Hooper Sedanca

This 1953 Silver Wraith was ordered new by Nubar Gulbenkian, the Armenian-born collector of unusual Rolls-Royces, and bodied by his preferred coachbuilder, Hooper. It sits on the long-wheelbase chassis and follows the Empress Line style, but is finished as a Sedanca de Ville. Reptile skin trims the dashboard and part of the rear division, where a speedometer was fitted so Gulbenkian could monitor his chauffeur's pace.\n\nThe car has some screen history too: it was used as Uncle Monty's car in the cult film Withnail and I. It later joined the late James Crickmay's collection, was used on Rolls-Royce rallies and was lent to Lord March to ferry guests at the Goodwood Revival.\n\nA later private owner on the Isle of Man had M.J. Pickles of Macclesfield carry out a full mechanical rebuild and some bodywork restoration between November 2015 and May 2019, with invoices totalling £188,680. The interior is largely original, left as it was to preserve the Gulbenkian character. The car won best in class at Rolls-Royce events after the work and comes with a large history folder.
