The Silver Cloud III was the last mainstream Rolls-Royce built on a separate chassis, and the factory never offered it as a convertible. Open cars came only from coachbuilders, and H.J. Mulliner's drophead coupé was the most successful of them. This 1963 example carries the 6.2-litre V8 and the four-speed automatic gearbox that was standard on the model.
It is finished in Garnet over a Beige leather interior. The page says the leather is original and has never been replaced, and that most of the paintwork is original with no crazing or wear. The odometer reads 85,000 miles. The car is chassis SDW 247 and is registered 421 GXD.
The current owner bought it in 1983 from Frank Dale & Stepsons, and it is being offered for the first time since. It went straight to America and is in Chicago, in a collection that includes other Rolls-Royces and Bentleys. It has been regularly maintained. The dealer's price is quoted in US dollars ($600,000), so no sterling asking price is given.
