About this car

The Rolls-Royce 25/30 was the stepping stone between the 20 hp and the Phantom III, a six-cylinder car built for owners who wanted something a little larger and more capable than the 20/25. This 1936 example carries a sports saloon body by H.J. Mulliner, one of the great coachbuilders of the period, and wears the 'trouser crease' wings associated with the style.

It has the correct P100 headlights, long-trumpet horns and twin side-mounted spare wheels. The engine has been refurbished with a new block and pistons, and a new cylinder head was fitted some time before that. A fitted tray in the boot holds a good selection of original tools.

Chassis number GTL68 is registered CYX 434. Its history includes early ownership by an Anglo-Persian Oil Company director in Tehran, and later time in Zambia and South Africa. A large file holds invoices for work totalling nearly £50,000, photographs of a repaint, old MoT certificates and the original handbook. The listing is marked sale agreed.
