Rolls-Royce 20hp Landaulette By Elkington

This 1925 Rolls-Royce 20hp carries a landaulette body by Elkington, chassis GPK41. The page suggests the coachwork may have been adapted from a body built for a larger car. The folding rear roof gives rear passengers open-air travel, and a fold-out occasional seat makes it a seven-seater.

The history is unusually well documented. The first owner was H Tyrell Gray of Harley Street, London, and the car was re-registered in his wife's name in 1931. Later owners include a Worksop garage proprietor and a Retford café owner, who bought it in 1956. It then went to Manchester, where it was probably used as a funeral follower car. At some point before 1965 it was repainted by Hooper & Co, which is why it was wrongly recorded as a Hooper body in the RREC Bulletin in 1970. It spent several years in storage in a large Italian collection.

The current owner has had the fuel tank removed and refurbished, and a new honeycomb radiator core made and fitted by Anglia Radiators. The Autovac fuel system has been overhauled, along with a number of smaller jobs. The rear seat leather is original, and the car has a lot of patina. No mileage is given.
