This 1930 Riley Nine is built in the style of the Brooklands Speed Models, the lightweight Riley sports cars that raced at the Surrey track. It was assembled by Riley specialist Allen Clear from a mix of original, restored and newly sourced parts, with the aim of capturing the character of the works cars while staying usable on the road.
Power comes from a fully rebuilt 1,087cc Riley Nine four-cylinder, a compact, free-revving unit well suited to the short, light chassis. The page describes direct steering with plenty of feel and a car that rewards through character rather than outright speed.
It is registered in the UK as FV1183, with chassis number 609960. The cockpit is snug: the dealer notes it is not well suited to drivers over 6ft tall or long in the leg. The car is currently viewable by appointment in Antwerp, Belgium.
