This 1964 356C Coupe is a left-hand-drive car first supplied to the USA and imported to the UK in 1990. The 356C was the last and most developed of the line, with four-wheel disc brakes as the headline improvement over earlier cars. Its Champagne Yellow paint is a less common choice than the usual red, silver or black, and it is paired with a black leather interior.
The air-cooled flat-four has been rebuilt as a correct 356 unit with larger pistons and barrels, taking it to roughly 1,720cc. It is not a VW replacement engine. The dealer says engine and chassis are both correct for 1964 but not believed to be matching numbers, and the engine has not been rolling-road tested. A four-speed manual gearbox is fitted.
It sits on period Fuchs alloy wheels, with the original steel set included. The cabin keeps its period radio and factory front rubber mats, though the rear carpet shows age-related wear. It has covered 56,000 miles with five previous owners, and a file of more than 30 invoices supports its history.
