Porsche 356 C

This 1964 Porsche 356C has done far more than most classics of its age. It has taken part in several endurance rallies, including the London to Sydney marathon, and has also covered long distances across Southern and North Africa. Originally sold new to the USA, it now wears a rally-ready specification rather than a factory one.

The engine was rebuilt by 356 specialist Andy Prill and enlarged to 1720cc, with an Elgin 7606 camshaft and twin Dellorto carburettors, for a recorded 92bhp at the wheels. Gantspeed Engineering then rebuilt the gearbox and fitted a front-mounted oil cooler, raised the ride height slightly and worked on the brakes, suspension, steering and clutch. Inside are reclining Recaro seats, a full roll cage, racing harnesses, extra oil pressure and temperature gauges and rally trip equipment. The bodyshell has had a major restoration and respray by Southern Classics.

The dealer recommissioned the car in 2023 after a period in storage, with a major service, overhauled brakes, new fuel lines, refurbished wheels and four new Pirelli P6000 tyres. Stated mileage is 18,280, service history is partial, and it comes with folders of invoices and photographs, rally plates and stickers, and the Chinese number plates used while crossing China.
