Porsche 356 B T6

The 356B was the penultimate evolution of Porsche's first production car, and the T6 cars of 1962 onwards brought the 1.6-litre flat-four. At 60bhp it sounds modest, but in a car this light it is a lively and engaging drive. This 1963 example was delivered new to Melbourne, Australia, the 35th of only 44 356Bs sent there, in Slate Grey with a red interior and a list of period options including a tinted windscreen, chrome wheels, electric washers and a luggage spider.

The car later moved to New Zealand, where Gazley Motor Group in Wellington carried out a restoration lasting 24 months from 2017. The shell was beadblasted and repainted in its original colour, and the interior was retrimmed in red leather in place of the original leatherette. The restoration is documented, with invoices shown in the photos.

After import to the UK, Porsche specialist Parr spent around £21,000 completing the work. The car has recently been serviced, had its Weber carburettors serviced and been fitted with new Continental tyres. It shows 53,400 miles indicated.
