Porsche 356 B 1600 Super Cabriolet

This is a right-hand-drive 356B 1600 Super Cabriolet, a rare configuration for a car that most often reached the UK in left-hand-drive form. It was supplied new through AFN, Porsche's UK main agent, and first registered in Britain in 1960. A Porsche Cars North America letter of authenticity confirms matching numbers, including the Ruby Red colour.

The car left the UK in the 1980s for the USA, where it stood in dry storage for decades before a full component-off restoration that included replacing metalwork, notably the floor pans. It later sat in a concours collection of 356s and has since returned to the UK. The page says it won a People's Choice award at a 356 Registry East Coast Holiday event.

Lux Classics rebuilt the engine in August 2024. Compression has been raised from 8.5:1 to 9.5:1 with JE and Biral parts, and the Zenith carburettors have been swapped for Weber 40 IDFs. Other changes are a new wiring loom, a 12-volt conversion, 123 electronic ignition and a high-torque starter. The interior is black leather under a black soft top. The dealer believes the 47,000 miles is correct and supported by documentation, but does not guarantee it. A history file includes the original 1978 purchase invoice. The price has been reduced from £225,000.
