Porsche 356 A T1

This 1956 356A T1 coupe was first delivered in California in 1957 and has a matching-numbers history. The T1 is the earliest version of the 356A, recognisable by its beehive rear lamps, and it sits between the Pre-A cars and the later T2.

It has been set up as a historic rally car. The current engine is a Porsche 616/6 endurance unit with a racing crankshaft, Carrillo rods and twin Weber 38 carburettors. Other changes include Bilstein suspension, upgraded brakes and transmission, a Sebring-style exhaust, a Nardi wheel and a GT-style louvred engine lid. The original factory engine is included in the sale, along with a second set of wheels and spare components.

The car has been in the same Spanish ownership for twenty years and is registered there as a historic vehicle. It was restored in the mid-1990s. Events include the 1996 Colorado Grand, the 1998 Tour de France Automobile and the 2007 Mille Miglia Torrelodones. The history file holds Porsche Certificates of Authenticity, the original California plate and US papers. UK registration would need importing, with duties and taxes payable.
