This MG TD was first registered in Brighton in June 1953 as a UK home-market car. That makes it one of the scarcer ones: of almost 30,000 TDs built, around 25,000 went to the USA. It spent decades in Scotland, with one owner in Kilmarnock from at least 1967 to 2003, who finished a rebuild begun on a bare chassis and toured the car widely.
The car has been modified for touring. A high-ratio MGA rear axle lowers engine revs at cruising speed and gives a comfortable 70mph from the 1250cc XPAG engine. The rear dampers have been converted from lever-arm to telescopic, and the front suspension was overhauled in 2019. The engine was rebuilt in 2015. More recent work includes a new hood frame, a new propshaft, upgraded brakes and new Michelin tyres.
The history file holds a photographic record of the rebuild and MOT certificates going back to the 1980s. The car has covered several thousand miles of touring under recent owners, though no odometer reading is given. It is offered after returning to the dealer in part exchange.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (MG factory spec for the standard XPAG 1250cc engine (54.4 bhp at 5,200 rpm). Weight, top speed and 0-60 left null because the period figures come from road tests, not the factory.).
£24,995 since it was listed on 6 November 2026. No changes yet.
