The MG 18/80 was the first MG to use a chassis the factory designed itself, and the first to carry the vertical-slat grille that became the marque's signature. This Mk 2 Sports Six is one of 501 built, with the 2,468cc overhead-cam six that gives the car its name: roughly 60 bhp and a top speed of around 80 mph.
Chassis 2/A0331 was the University Motors demonstration car in 1930, which original correspondence supports. Its Carbodies body is number 7871, from a batch of 30 ordered in October 1929. It was bought in 2001 as a complete but very tired project, and the previous owner carried out a full restoration, returning it to its original deep red over black and fitting new Blockley tyres in place of white walls.
The engine was rebuilt with new bearings, a re-bore, a crank re-grind and Riley pistons for a higher compression ratio. Changes include an electric fuel pump, a battery isolation switch, a new wiring loom with flashers and brake lights, and a Zener diode in the charging circuit. Inside are red leather and a full set of period instruments, with a new black mohair hood. The page gives 3,373 miles since the restoration was completed. It does not give an odometer reading.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Engine figures only (2468cc OHC straight-six, front-engined, RWD) from MG records of the period. I couldn't confirm factory figures for power, weight or performance for the 1930 car, so those are left blank.).
£69,000 since it was listed on 6 November 2026. No changes yet.
