About this car

Carbodies of Coventry clothed only around 50 MG chassis in the Airline Coupe body, and roughly 27 of those were on the PA. This is chassis PA 2242, one of the last PA examples, sent from the factory in July 1935 as one of a batch of five. It was the only one of the five to sell that year; the other four went back to MG and were converted to PB specification.

The history is unusually well documented. First registered in January 1936 to a owner in Llanelli, South Wales, it was bought in 1965 by Danish architect Gert Jensen, who shipped it to California and restored it. It won the Pre-War class at the 1969 Pebble Beach Concours and took the Gwenn Graham Concours Trophy, with Phil Hill as head judge. Jensen kept the car until his death in 2018, and it regained its original TH 6498 registration in 1975.

The current owner bought it from Jensen's estate and had it restored in Australia, finished in 2024. That work included the chassis, the Carbodies coachwork and woodwork, and the 847cc four-cylinder engine. The car appeared at the 2025 Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. It comes with the original trophy, a history file with period photographs, a San Francisco Chronicle cutting and a full photographic record of the restoration. No mileage is stated.
