This is one of only 500 Type RS-R examples of the FD3S RX-7, built to mark 30 years of Mazda's rotary engine. The RS-R took the Type RS and added key Type RZ equipment, including Bilstein dampers and high-performance tyres. Sunburst Yellow was introduced for the model alongside Brilliant Black, and this car has been refinished in that factory colour.
It is far from standard. The car has a long association with Tokyo rotary specialist Zimax and is featured in its online gallery. The spec includes a FEAST wide-body, RE Amemiya aero, a Voltex wing, an APEX RX-6 single turbo, an OS Giken five-speed gearbox with a Super Lock differential, and a Brembo front brake conversion. Inside are new Recaro RS-G bucket seats, a roll bar and a two-seat conversion.
In 2024 the dealer had Zimax carry out a full 13B rebuild, including new rotors and housings. Redline Tuning then ran the engine in and calibrated it in the UK, and it recorded 401.4 hp on the dyno at 1.2 bar. Compression readings after run-in are closely matched across the faces. The page states 50,882 km displayed (about 31,600 miles), and the original SSR Professor wheels are included.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Mazda Japan (JDM) release figures for the 500-unit limited edition: 265 PS 13B-REW twin-rotor rotary. Cylinders left null because it's a rotary. Weight, top speed and 0-60 not confirmed, so null.).
