About this car

This is a Series 1 Lotus Elise built in 1997 and covering just 1,022 miles from new, which makes it an unusually unused example of the car that revived Lotus's fortunes. It is finished in Ardent Red and has the 156 bhp 1.8-litre engine with a five-speed manual gearbox.

It was first registered in Malta as a right-hand-drive car, then came to the UK in the mid-2000s and has been kept in dry storage ever since, for more than 25 years. The page lists one owner.

Recent work includes a full major service and new tyres, fitted because of the car's age. It has also just passed an MOT and been UK registered. The dealer describes it as possibly one of the lowest-mileage original S1 Elises left.

The page dates the car as 2024 (74), which reflects the UK registration. The text says it was produced in 1997.
