Chassis 916 is a Lotus 18 that was upgraded to 18/21 specification part-way through 1961. It was one of three Lotus 18s supplied new to the U.D.T. Laystall team, and it raced through the 1961 and 1962 Formula 1 seasons. Drivers included Stirling Moss, Innes Ireland, Henry Taylor, Masten Gregory and Cliff Allison.
Its best-known result is Moss's win in the 1961 Danish Grand Prix. It also finished third in the 1962 Brussels Grand Prix, and Ireland won the 1962 Glover Trophy at Goodwood in it. Allison took eighth at the 1961 Monaco Grand Prix.
The car ran in period with both 1.5-litre and 2.5-litre Coventry Climax FPF engines, and it can still be run in either form. That allows it to enter the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, the Glover Trophy and HGPCA events. Hall and Hall restored it for Anthony Mayman, and IN Racing has maintained it during the current ownership. It has competed at the Goodwood Revival, Monaco Historique and in HGPCA events. It comes with FIA HTP papers valid until 2034, a history file and a spares package. No price is stated.
