The Lancia D50 was the company's Grand Prix car of the mid-1950s, easily recognised by the fuel tanks carried in pannier pods between the front and rear wheels. It appeared early in the 1954 season, around the same time as the Mercedes-Benz W196. The engine is a 2.5-litre V8 mounted at an angle in a compact, lightweight chassis, and it is quoted at 250 bhp.
The original D50s went to Ferrari after Alberto Ascari's fatal testing accident, when the Lancia family handed over the cars, technology, spares and staff so that Enzo Ferrari could race them under the Scuderia Ferrari banner.
This example is a recreation built in Italy 44 years after the original cars, using many original parts. The project had the full approval and input of Lancia SpA. The dealer describes it as suitable for historic racing events worldwide. The page gives no price, mileage or chassis history.
