The Lagonda V12 was the car that relaunched the marque after its financial troubles in the mid-1930s. W.O. Bentley, fresh from four years at Rolls-Royce, led the engineering of a 4.5-litre V12 with double-wishbone independent front suspension. This drophead coupe wears coachwork in the style of Frank Feeley, later known for the post-war Aston Martin DBs. Only 189 V12s were built, and the car is finished in two-tone paint.
This example won at Pebble Beach in 1997 after a full restoration in America, including specialist work on the interior woodwork. It shows 7,790 miles and has a four-speed manual gearbox. Chassis number 14069.
The history file includes copies of the build sheets, a list of all owners and many invoices and papers. One former owner was Michael Patrick Aitken MBE, who kept it for more than 15 years.
