The Mark VII was the big Jaguar saloon that proved far quicker around a circuit than its size suggested, and in the 1950s it was a dominant force in British saloon car racing. This 1956 car, registered TRU 671, is a competition-specification example built for historic events rather than as a static display piece.
It was acquired in 2000 and prepared by Racing Green, then entered in the inaugural St Mary's Trophy at the Goodwood Revival, shared with Le Mans driver Mike Salmon. Racing continued at Goodwood, the Members' Meeting and in HRDC and HSCC series through to 2024, with drivers including Tony Dron and Ollie Bryant. It has also raced abroad, including at Spa-Francorchamps. A plaque carrying Salmon's catchphrase, "Flat as a Kipper!", remains in the car.
Development has centred on a 3.8-litre XK engine with triple Weber carburettors and a disc brake conversion. It is a manual car, and the dealer states it is eligible for the Goodwood Revival, the Members' Meeting, and HRDC and HSCC events. Chassis number is DN 728575. Price is on application.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (No catalogued factory 'Competition Saloon' variant found; competition Mark VIIs were works-prepared cars, so performance figures are left null. Only the base XK 3.4-litre straight-six drivetrain layout is given.).
