The Mark V arrived at the 1948 London Motor Show alongside the XK120 and was the more significant seller of the two. It brought independent front suspension by torsion bars, hydraulic brakes and an all-steel body, a clear step on from the pre-war SS Jaguars. This drophead coupé, with its fully lined three-position hood, is one of fewer than 1,000 built in that form.
First registered on 9 February 1951, this right-hand-drive car is finished in Old English White over red leather, with burr walnut veneers. The 3½-litre straight-six is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, and overdrive has been added as a later upgrade to make longer journeys easier. The page gives 14,500 miles.
The car has been restored to a good standard and has had a single enthusiast owner who looked after it carefully. It comes with a V5C, the original buff logbook confirming the NKM 645 registration from new, a complete toolkit and a workshop manual.
